As well as developing ideas for non-fiction books, I also write fiction for children. All my books are waiting for the right publisher to come along. Click on the titles below to read a "blurb" for each of my children's books, including Dear Egg, the one I'm working on at the moment.

Fiction for 5-7s

Has your dad ever wanted an earring? Well, Hattie's dad does and even though she knows it will lead to a whole heap of trouble, there is nothing she can do to make him change his mind. It's only when the earring causes dad's football team to get knocked out of the Cup that he realises it might not have been such a great idea after all!

When William's headmaster bans yet another lunchtime activity, William and his classmates are encouraged by their teacher to think of something they can do at lunchtime that won’t get banned. Although his classmates laugh at William's idea at first, they soon begin to realise that he might not be such a "knit" after all!

"A "purl" of a story." The Woolly News

Seeking your fortune is easy, right? You just go to the End of the Road and take it from there. At least, that's what Archie thinks and when a mysterious stranger leads him and his brothers to a pile of gold coins, they think their luck is really in. But Archie hasn't bargained for his brothers and they haven't bargained for him. Before they know it, the gold is slipping through their fingers. How they lose it and whether they get it back is a tale involving greed, devious double-crossing and a packet of chocolate biscuits!

Robbie Earnshaw has two left feet. At least, that's what his PE teacher Mr Stroller thinks, which is why he hardly ever picks him for the school football team. But when Robbie receives some coaching from a rather unexpected source...and the team's star striker twists his ankle...it looks like Robbie's football career is going to be top of the league after all.

When Prince Scroo-up bans ice cream, he has no idea how miserable he has made life for everyone, especially Tinny Tom who has just had his tonsils taken out and can only eat ice cream. It takes a visit from Marbley, the ice cream that came back from the dead, to show him how he has "scroo-ed up" and how he can put things right again. Based (very loosely!) on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, this is a real "chiller" of a book.

"Ice creamed when I read it!" Helen, aged 7.

Fiction for 7-9s

What's the difference between an elephant and a hot-water bottle? Try getting into bed with an elephant. You'll soon find out! Hello, my name is Michelle (Mickey for short) and that's one of my favourite jokes. I love telling jokes (I want to be a lady comedian when I grow up) but there hasn't been much to laugh about recently. Not since Dad left and I found out from my best friend Ellie that it was probably because of me. Now I'm determined I'm never going to tell another joke as long as I live. Read my story and find out whether I managed it or not.

Fiction for 9-12s

Taz has a few things she needs to get off her chest, like having to move in with her aunt Izzy (who also happens to be her RE teacher) and being forced into a friendship with the sugary Sally-Anne. But because Taz doesn’t have anyone to talk to, she starts writing letters to Egg, her older sister who died a few days after birth. When Taz’s anger finally boils over, resulting in an accident that leaves Sally-Anne in a critical condition, Taz’s letters help her to deal with a terrible guilty secret.

Fiction For Older Teens

Andie Newton is 16 and has a lot to cope with. An old boyfriend who thinks she's his personal agony aunt. A new boyfriend whose kid sister makes Hannibal Lecter look like Princess Diana and a demanding mother who puts the 'i' into "irritating". Then there is the little matter of her GCSEs... Can Andie hold it all together or will she finally lose it and discover that cracking up isn't all it's cracked up to be?
